The Lord will establish you as His holy people, as He promised, if you keep His commands and walk in his ways. Then all he peoples of the earth will see you are called by my name. (Deut. 28)
Thoughts: We do not simply bless ourselves. So much we have is what we did not earn. God blesses us as we listen to Him. He establishes us in our land as we obey. Before the people of God entered the promised land, they were told that God will establish them if they obeyed Him. Because of His blessing, people would honor the name of God. But the opposite is also true. When we disobey our Lord, we bring great dishonor to His name. We who claim God disown Him when we disobey Him. To not expect that we will be punished when we do so is an illusion.
Prayer: help me listen and heed, Lord!
