3-9-15 Two Masters are not One Lord

24“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Mt. 6:24)

Thoughts: Part of having Jesus as Lord is knowing that this world is not our lord.  We cannot have two lords that pull us in different directions.  This verse also explains/infers that the world will hate those who have faith and there is enmity between the ways of the world and the ways of God.  We cannot serve God and money at the same time.  We must choose which God we serve.  We can concentrate our lives here- but we shouldn't fool ourselves that if we do that we can also concentrate our lives in heaven.  The idea of lordship is the one to whom we are ultimately obedient.  Jesus, in this dialogue also tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.  We cannot be a double agent for the kingdom of this world and the kingdom of God.

Prayer: Lord, may my heart be true and pure.  Keep my loyalty to you.  May I be your faithful and obedient servant.
