Christ appears to the women

8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.9Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (Matthew 28:8-10)

Thoughts: Jesus appeared to the women.  He was exalting those who were in humble estate.  The women showed their humility by grasping his feet and worshiping Him.
Jesus told them not to be afraid.  The angel said the same words earlier (28:5).  Jesus is not a ghost. But He is saying more than just to not be afraid of Him.  He is encouraging us to have courage- for He has overcome death.  We do not need to live as cowards, but we need to have courage to spread the news that Jesus is alive.  We do not need to shrink back in fear of being criticized or misunderstood.  The women were to be the first to spread the good news- the first evangelists.

Prayer: Lord, make me bold to spread the good news that there is hope beyond this life.
