15Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. (2 Peter 3)
Thoughts: Peter is writing of Paul's words as if they were authoritative. Paul wrote with the wisdom that God gave him. By the time 2 Peter was being circulated, many of Paul's letters had gained authority. So this is a rare glimpse of one book of the New Testament testifying to the usefulness and authority of another book by a different author. Though Paul's writings have some things that are called, "hard to understand" yet they are called "other scriptures" - a part of the sacred writings.
Prayer: Lord, help me respect others and especially your word.
