The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. (NLT Lk. 2:20)
Thoughts: The shepherds had left their flocks when they heard the voices of the angels- to go and find the Messiah. Eventually they would have to go back. After Christmas it is hard to go back to the mundane. To go from angels to the Messiah to just keeping sheep would be difficult. Yet, God wants us to be as faithful in the little everyday things as we are in the extraordinary mountain top experiences. God sometimes inspires us on the mountaintop but then tells us to go back to the work He calls us to do. This work too is important.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be faithful in the little every day things of life.
