Twelve Thrones

28Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Matthew 19:28)

Thoughts: Jesus calls the Day of the Lord at the end of history as "The Renewal of All Things."  In other words- things will be given new life, hew hope, new energy, made new again- made young again.  This is a day to look forward to.
He promises that they will be given 12 thrones- one for each of them.  In John's vision of Revelation he saw these twelve thrones circled around God's great throne (Rev. 4:4; 21:12-14).  In the end, they throw their crowns before God- giving them up to Him.  Any reward we have is not something we have earned, but a gift from God who gives us all talent, ability, opportunity, grace, and desire.

Prayer: Lord, I cast my crown before your great crown.
