Psalm 89:27 And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth.
Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Thoughts: Who owns the Church? There has been a huge crisis in lawsuits among believers- where a denomination sues a local church or vice versa about who own the property. Once a church member in a church I preached in took me to the sanctuary wall and said, "See those bricks right there? I own those- I bought those." Many churches have names of members on the pews or windows or Bibles. But who owns the Bible or the Church- really? If Christ does not own them, then they are not worth that much to own. While we may be stewards of holy things- we do not ultimately own them. In fact, all things on earth we must eventually give up to those behind us. But the good news is- Christ owns the Church! If He owns it, He will take care of it. He is the firstborn of the dead- showing us- leading us to life. God the owner of the vineyard came down to the vineyard and the stewards killed him in an effort to run the vineyard themselves (Luke 20:9-17). The good news is that the owner's son rose from the dead- and invites all who follow in His way to follow Him to life. Those who are following in His way- who are baptized into His way- are His Church. He is the leader and the owner not only of the earthly church, but the heavenly one.
Prayer: Lord, you are the potter, I am the clay. All that I am- physically, mentally, and spiritually are yours.
