Jesus Identified as the Redeemer

36There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.e She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.38Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. (Luke 2)

Thoughts: Anna was another godly woman well respected in the Temple.  She too confirmed what Simeon had said.  She believed this baby was the Messiah.  She gave thanks to God and spoke to those who looked with hope to the salvation or redemption of Israel.  Jesus is the Savior and Anna confirmed that for us.  Jesus is identified as the Redeemer,  Our lives were wasted, and Jesus made them meaningful, purposeful and redemptive.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for those who keep the faith so quietly and boldly like Anna.
