The merciful

12/24- Fourth Sunday of Advent- Beatitudes- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart,

Read: “6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.  7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.  8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.  (Matthew 5:6-8)

Thoughts: These three beatitudes- or blessings have to do with wanting things to be done right, true, and with kindness.  Jesus is asking us to want what is good to happen.   He is asking us to be kind to others when they do not deserve it (being merciful).  He asks us to have pure hearts for then our hearts will be close to God’s heart- we will be near Him and know Him.  Jesus wants us to want what God wants.  He wants us to want what is right but also to want mercy for others.  Advent is about God being merciful to us.

Activity: Attend one or more of our 5 worship services today. (8:30 am, 10:30 am, 5 pm, 7 pm, 11 pm)
