7/7/14- Prayer

Blow the trumpet...sound the alarm...for the day of the Lord is coming.  It is close at hand.  Rend your heart and not your garments  Return to the Lord you God.  Joel 2:1,13

7“Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you. 9The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you. (Daniel 9:7-11)

Thoughts: The National Day of Prayer folk have asked that we consider spending time 7-7-7 today- July 7th at 7:00 in prayer for our nation.  Actually the call is to pray and fast for our nation for seven hours on 7-7.  We need to pray for a spirit of humility and repentance.  Daniel prayed of his people a national and personal confession  God answered his prayer before he finished it. We too need to confess our sins to God today and humble ourselves before Him.

Prayer: Lord, against Thee and Thee only have I sinned.  Wash me and I will be whiter than snow.  Remove my sins from me and restore me to your salvation.
