7Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.9This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4)
Thoughts: Love does not originate within ourselves. It is not a chemical or simple hormonal reaction. Real love is not just sexual love but a caring for others. Love comes from God, and we are to imitate God by loving one another. Love is a godly thing and shows a godly heart. Love is shown clearly in God's sending Jesus for us- not because we deserve His coming- but out of His concern for our welfare. When we love, we get close to God and we experience the living God. We may not see God- but when we love as God loves us, people can see God working in and through us (Jn. 13:33,34).
Prayer: Lord, may your love flow through me to others.
