Bringing Something for Worship Service

26What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.  (1 Corinthians 14:26)

Thoughts: There are many things here for us.  First Paul calls the church in Corinth "brothers and sisters."  In the church, it is more than a class or a conglomerate of individuals  It is a family who seeks to care, encourage and support each other.
He also mentions that everyone brings something to worship.  It is like a covered dish supper of encouragement.  One brings something to say, another something to sing, another a special gift.  But it is all for the building up of the church.  The gifts of the Spirit that He gives us individually to bring to the body are pieces of a puzzle we bring to make the puzzle complete.  You have a piece to bring too.  Our problem is we think worship is about our being entertained- so we may "get something out of it."  But we are bringing our voice to the song; our prayers to the joint bodily (corporate) prayer; Our tithe to the plate; our service to the worship service.

Prayer: Lord, may I serve you and your bride - the church- as I come to worship you.
