We are Pilgrims

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. (1 Peter 2:11)

Thoughts: The KJV says that we are strangers and pilgrims (foreigners and exiles in NIV).  This world is not our home.  We are just passing through.  The church is a waystation, a place to get refreshment and rest along the way home.
One of the great classic Christian works is "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan.  In this book every Christian is called to relate to the main character called "Pilgrim."  He faces valleys of death, Giant Despair, and Vanity Fair and other temptations along the way until he crosses the river into the Celestial City.  It is a great book to read.
We all are on a journey- not to nowhere or just death- but to heaven (if we believe).  Let us live it with care and grace.

Prayer: Lord, keep me from sinful desires on my journey home to you.
