She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue. (Proverbs 31:26)
She opens her mouth with wisdom; and on her tongue is the law of kindness. (KJV)
Thoughts: The literal translation is "her mouth opens wisdom." What a beautiful way to put it. When her mouth opens, wisdom comes out. Her mouth is the can opener for the can of wisdom. Her mouth is the gate to wisdom. She may not always open her mouth- and may not always speak. But when she speaks- she speaks with wisdom.
The second part of the verse is literally "the law of kindness [Torah hesed] is on her tongue." In other words she encourages, builds up, and is gracious to others. A mother or wife who speaks kind words- not nagging or criticizing words- is a special gift from God.
Prayer: Lord, let me know when to speak and when to be silent. Let my words be sweet and tender for tomorrow I may have to eat them.
