5/9/13- Mother for the Tough Times

She is not afraid for her household when it snows,
    for all her household are clothed in crimson.
²² She makes herself coverings;
    her clothing is fine linen and purple.
²³ Her husband is known in the city gates,
    taking his seat among the elders of the land.
²⁴ She makes linen garments and sells them;
    she supplies the merchant with sashes.
²⁵ Strength and dignity are her clothing,
    and she laughs at the time to come. (Proverbs 31:21-25)

Thoughts: Clothing is something Americans take for granted.  Today we can just go to the mall and pick up clothes.  But clothes were handmade and special made back in biblical times.  They are handmade in many places in the world today.  This part of the praise of the ideal woman focuses on her ability to protect herself and her family in tough times.  The weather forecast does not scare a godly woman.  She has prepared for the tough times.  She laughs at the times to come. 

Prayer: Lord, thank you for those who take care of their family, preparing them for the tough times of life.
