43The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”
44Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip. (John 1:43-46)
Thoughts: Philip had heard about Jesus from his hometown friends. They told him, and Philip told Nathanael. Nathanael was a faithful believer, but a little skeptical that the Messiah could happen in his time and in the country mountain town of Nazareth- far from Jerusalem. We should not be so skeptical that God can use the unexpected, the backward, the humble to speak truth and hope to the world. God delights in surprising us and tearing down our pride (which keeps us from seeing God).
We should learn to respond quickly as Philip did, and to tell others, maybe even especially skeptics as Philip did. When Christians stop telling others to simply "come and see" then we (and the church) are not doing our duty. Part of our duty is to point to Jesus as John the Baptist and Philip did.

Prayer: Help me to listen and respond to you, Lord. Help me to tell others to come and see.
hey nice post mehn. I like your style of writing. The way you writes reminds me of an equally interesting post that I read some time ago on Daniel Uyi's blog titled How Are You Spending Your Remaining Days? .
ReplyDeletekeep up the good work.
