7When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. (Revelation 6)
Thoughts: God's plan is to put an end to the plagues of the four horsemen. One day death, famine, war, and the lust for power/conquest will stop. One fourth of the world is destroyed by this horseman. Even death only comes at the release of the angels before the throne of God. Some believe the illusion that death is the final end. But this is not so. Death is limited by God in space (1/4 of the world) and in time. God overcomes death. Death is terrible and frightening. But the Grim Reaper and the 4th Horseman, though frightening, is not the end. We all die, but here death comes at once.
Prayer: Let me understand in life and in death we belong to you, O Lord.
