1In the last days
the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
and peoples will stream to it.
2Many nations will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
3He will judge between many peoples
and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.
4Everyone will sit under their own vine
and under their own fig tree,
and no one will make them afraid,
for the Lord Almighty has spoken.
Thoughts: God is God of all the nations. "The prophets grew increasingly aware that not only would Israel all share in the redemption. God would break in to restore his liberating Lordship over the entire world of the nations." (Verkuyl in Perspectives of the World Christian Movement p. 37). He is the God of all peoples (Isa. 2:1-4; Mic. 4:1-4; Jer. 3:17; Isa. 25:6-9; Isa. 60; Zech 8:20 ff). So we should see this is a part of God's overall plan- to bring every tribe, language and nation- at least representatives of each one to Himself. God judges between many peoples and will bring peace.
Prayer: Lord may the world know you. May your peace and influence be on our world today.
