The Call to Come is Also the Call to Follow

6He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” (Revelation 21)

The Spirit a Gospel nd the bride say, "Come!" And let the one who hears say, "Come!" Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.  (Rev. 22:17)

Thoughts:  The Gospel is open to all people. All who are thirsty are welcome to come.  It is open to no matter how you look, or what talents you have, or how many times you have sinned.  However, it is withdrawn from those who turn away from God and turn toward sin.  Sin matters to a holy God.  We are all called to God.  But not all respond with gratitude and a desire to do God's will.  It is possible to want God but not want to give up our sin in order to follow God.  So Revelation 21 points out that He "gives water without cost from the spring of the water of life."  The ones who are excluded are those who continue to follow their sin. The call to come is also the call to follow.

Prayer: Lord, let me forsake all sin to follow you.   Let me be a water offerer to those around me.
