3/24- Declaring God’s Glory with Youth in Mission- 1 Timothy 4:12

3/24- Declaring God’s Glory with Youth in Mission- 1 Timothy 4:12

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Thoughts: Timothy was young when he was appointed as the overseer of the Ephesians churches. But Paul reminds Timothy that he had been taught the scriptures from infancy from his grandmother and mother.  He reminds Timothy that he had been commissioned with special gifts.  Paul also had sent Timothy as his envoy on at least two occasions in order to train him and give him confidence. He was labeled by Paul as a co-sender of six of his letters, and was with Paul in the missions to much of Asia Minor.  Paul encourages Timothy to not be timid (1:7) and to put his confidence in God.
Mission trips help build up confidence and faith. Mission trips and church camps are the two major reasons adults say they have kept their faith.  Mission trips help young people to stand up for their faith, and teaches them courage.

Prayer: May you, O Lord, raise up young people to be strong in their faith and courageous.
