27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tonguesd ? Do all interpret? 31Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. (1 Corinthians 12:27-31)
Thoughts; Each of us who believe are a member of the body of Christ. We are members. As I indicated before, this is originally a Christian concept. Then Paul lists a number of gifts that members have. This is not an exhaustive list. Romans 12:6-8, Eph. 4;11 and some others. The point is that not everyone has all the gifts. We need each other. The greater gifts are better and more available to all people- like the greatest gift of love.
Prayer: Lord, help me to desire the greatest gift of your Holy Spirit- the gift of love.
