"But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15:57,58)
Thoughts: Paul was speaking about the resurrection then he goes into the idea that we have victory through Christ and that our work here on earth is not in vain if we do it for the glory of Christ.
Bill Gaither Jr. was about to have a baby and he and his wife were worried about what kind of world their baby was entering. He was wondering about hope. He then wrote "Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives." There is peace in the midst of a world gone awry. There is hope in the midst of sadness because our ultimate victory is secured in Christ's resurrection. It is a receipt of payment for sins and hope. It also means our work here on earth has meaning. That there is a God who sees what we does and lives- not just teaching us to be better- is important in life.
Prayer: Help me to enjoy your victory and to do my work for your glory, Lord. Amen.
