3After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. (Acts 1:3)
Thoughts: This is a sometimes overlooked verse concerning the resurrection of Jesus. It speaks of Jesus "presenting Himself" to the disciples. Jesus wanted to make sure that they knew and knew again that He was alive. Jesus convinced them of his resurrection. This implies that there was a lot of doubt. But Jesus overcame that doubt by appearing to many, and appearing again and again in different ways in different places. He appeared in rooms, and in the countryside. He appeared to a few and appeared to hundreds (1 Cor. 15:6- 500). He invited them to touch him. He ate with them- to show He was not a figment of their imagination or ghost. The resurrection appearances weren't for a few hours or days- but forty days. His message was one of hope - the building of the kingdom of God.
Prayer: Lord, let me have hope and live in the power of your resurrection.
