Dying that Others May Live

11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
(2 Corinthians 4:11-12)

Thoughts: Death is at work in us.  When Paul says we are being given over to death for Jesus' sake he speaks of his persecution.  Sometimes we are willing to give of ourselves for a better cause.  Barclay tells of the Boulder Dam in America that brings water to the desert at the cost of many lives given to build it.  Inside the dam is a plaque to those who gave their lives that says, "These died that the desert may rejoice and blossom as the rose."  Paul was more than willing to give himself that the gospel might blossom in others.

Prayer: Lord, may your life be at work in me.  Give me the will to take up my cross and follow you.
