3/17- Declaring God’s
Glory with Medical Missions- Mark 16:15-18
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:15-18)
Thoughts: Today is St. Patrick's Day. Patrick brought hope to a very superstitious and fearful people people. Tradition says he brought that hope not just with preaching but also with power. Thirty-three resurrections are attributed to Patrick- more than any other saint in or out of the Bible. But perhaps the greatest miracle of all was the Lord's using his preaching to bring people to Himself. Over 120,000 Irish were baptized by Patrick- and he started a minimum of 300 churches (some say as many as 700).
In a similar spirit, our church takes part in Medical Missions in Peru which has started 10 different churches, several schools for handicapped kids, and medical clinics. When Christ eases physical pain, people listen to his ability to ease spiritual pain.
Prayer: Lord, bless those who minister to the hurting physically so they may hear the gospel in their hearts and souls.
