3/23- Declaring God’s Glory with College Students- 1
Kings 20:13-14, 19-20
13 Meanwhile a prophet came to Ahab king of Israel and announced, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and then you will know that I am the Lord.’” 14 “But who will do this?” asked Ahab.
The prophet replied, “This is what the Lord says: ‘The junior officers under the provincial commanders will do it.’” “And who will start the battle?” he asked.
The prophet answered, “You will.”...19 The junior officers under the provincial commanders marched out of the city with the army behind them 20 and each one struck down his opponent. At that, the Arameans fled, with the Israelites in pursuit. But Ben-Hadad king of Aram escaped on horseback with some of his horsemen. (1 Kings 20:13,14,19,20)
Thoughts: In the history of the world, it is the young men and women who lead in the changing of the world-- especially for Christ. The college students at Princeton and Yale played a tremendous role in the second great awakening. In the revival that brought forth the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) and the YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association) as well as thousands of missionaries from the college ranks- the young college students led in the changing of our nation and world. So we should pray and encourage the campus ministries in our nation and area. More than that, we should work to not just keep the status quo with our college students but to change it. Too many times we expect our college students to go astray in college. Instead we may expect them to bring about revival in our land.
Prayer: Lord, today we pray for the college students of our land, and especially the ones in our church. Bless them, O Lord. Strengthen them to lead us in the good fight of the faith.
