13Be In on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 14Do everything in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
Thoughts: This was in the midst of many personal greetings. Paul was trying to encourage the Corinthians to be faithful, strong, and lo loving in the midst of very strong paganism and temptations. This is good advice for our day. To be on your guard means to try to keep your heart straight. Do not be overwhelmed with the temptations around you- but be courageous and strong. Part of being strong and faithful is being strong and faithful with each other in love. If we hold onto each other and not let our temptations divide us- we will be better off. Love keeps us encouraging each other.
Prayer: Lord, keep me strong. Help me to love others as you have loved me.
