For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Thoughts: What is the Word of God here? Jesus (logos Jn. 1) or the Bible. Spurgeon said much of what we say about Jesus we can also say about this book. It is the Word of God, Jesus, that gives the Word of God, the Bible, life. This book is like the energizer bunny - it keeps going and going. People testify that their lives have been changed by reading it in a hotel, in prison, addicts have turned around by reading this book; even whole people groups/villages have come to Christ because of having a copy of htat book. We often regret when we disobey it, but have no regrets when we listen to it. Sometimes reading it will encourage us, sometimes inspire us, sometimes it convicts us or rebukes us cutting like a knife.
Prayer: Help me, Lord, to seek to live by your living Word.
